Disabled Blue Badge Parking
There are places both on and off street where disabled blue badge holders are permitted or not permitted to park. This page gives you more information. You can find further information in the Department for Transport "rights and responsibilities" booklet, which is sent out with every blue badge issue.
Disabled Car Parking Policy
West Devon Borough Council charges Blue Badge holders to park within their car parks. Blue Badge Holders (including vehicles that are exempt from road tax) are therefore required to purchase a pay & display ticket, however an hour free is given on top of the expiry time.
Remember, the Blue Badge and clock must always be clearly & correctly displayed in the vehicle. The clock must be set at the time of arrival and the Blue Badge displayed expiry side up.
The policy is displayed on the signs located within the car park as well as the pay & display machine. The Blue Badge Scheme Rights and Responsibilities booklet also clearly states that Blue Badge Holders must not always assume that parking is for free in off street car parks as it is the right of car park owner to decide whether Badge Holders can park free of charge.
Parking on the Street
Blue Badge holders must be aware of areas where they can and cannot park on the street. If a Blue Badge holder parks in a place where they are not permitted to park they may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice.
For more information for Blue Badge holders when parking on the street go to the Devon County Council Website.
The Department for Transport have produced a Blue Badge Scheme: Rights and Responsibilities booklet which can be viewed or downloaded from their website.
