Help with accessibility
Do you need help in making the web easier to use?
Document Accessibility
Should you require any council documents from this site in large print, Braille, tape format or in other languages please contact our Customer Services team. (services@westdevon.gov.uk)
Each page of this website contains an 'Accessibility' drop down panel which allows you to vary the size of the screen text and also alter the page contrast. You will also find access to the Google online translation service here.
Screen Readers
Please note that West Devon Borough Council do not supply an on-line screen reader. However, if you do not already have you own installed screen reader, you might like to consider the open source screen reader available from the NVDA project. This is available at: http://www.nvda-project.org.
Please also note that, depending on the publisher and version of your computer's operating system, you may already have access to a preinstalled screen reader. See your computer system's documentation for further information.
'My Web My Way'
The BBC have created a very useful site, 'My Web My Way', which explains the many ways you can change your browser, computer, keyboard and mouse settings to make the web more accessible for you. This is available at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/accessibility/index.shtml
We recommend that you take some time to read the content that the BBC provides.
To access the BBC's 'My Web My Way' site, click on the 'My Web My Way' link under 'Useful Information'.
