Mayoral Award Scheme and Winners
This page briefly details the Mayoral Award Scheme and lists all the winners of Mayoral Award since the inception of the Scheme in 2002/03
Introduction
For many years it has been the practice of the Borough Mayor to send letters of congratulations to residents, firms and organisations of the Borough to acknowledge some special achievement by the recipients and this continues to be the case. However, in 2002 the Council decided to introduce an annual Mayoral Award to officially recognise such achievements. Anyone can nominate a resident, firm or organisation within the Borough for an Award based on the criteria that a nominee must have done something particularly noteworthy within the Borough or has enhanced the reputation of the Borough on the national stage or has made a significant contribution to the conservation and protection of the natural environment of the Borough
There are three categories for an Award:
- an under 18s (at the time of nomination) Award,
- an over 18s or firm/organisation Award.
- a Green Award for work done by individuals or groups
Nomination forms are circulated widely and are available for downloading from our website. Extensive press coverage is also given.
Watch the press and our website for the opportunity to nominate someone for the 2009/10 Awards.
