Changing a House Name

Apply to change the name of a property that already has an official registered address, or add a name to a property that currently only has a number.

This application form can be used for both residential and business properties.

There is a fee of £25 per property (from 1 April 2021).

Useful Information

Changing or adding a name to a property can only be officially done by applying to the council.
You can only apply if you are the registered owner of a property - if you are in the process of purchasing a property, we can only accept your application once you have exchanged contracts.
We will then check that the new name complies with our Street Naming and Numbering Policy, and will then send details of the name change to a range of organisations including Royal Mail and the emergency services, aswell as internal council departments.
