Elected 2007 and returned 2011.
My working life started as an apprentice Engine Fitter and Turner at HM Dockyard Devonport. I spent some time in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and have worked in agricultural engineering and car mechanics before being employed at HM Prison Dartmoor as Transport Manager and later as Civilian Instructor. I have tutored prison staff in Equal Opportunities (Diversity) and Stress Management. I also managed a prisoner workshop.
Prior to election to WDBC I had been an elected member of Horrabridge Parish Council for 16 years, six as Chairman, I have been involved with several village organisations, Youth Club, Recreation Field Trust, School Governor and Horrabridge Twinning Association of which I am Chairman.
Apart from my family, (1 wife, 2 children, 5 grandchildren), I left school at 15 without any qualifications so the achievement that I am most proud of is gaining my BSc. Honours Degree and Diploma of Applied Social Sciences with the Open University. I have also gained a Adult and Further Education Teaching Certificate with Plymouth College.
