Using Council Land

If you wish to hold an event, carry out an activity or trade on council owned land, you will require our permission and a licence to do so.

I would like to park on council land

First check whether the council owns the land using our Interactive Mapping.

If we do own it, we may consider your request to park on the land, please email your enquiry to estates@swdevon.gov.uk.

If we don't own the land, we would recommend you contact the Land Registry to find out who does own it.

I want to access your land

First check whether the Council owns the land by contacting us. If we do own it we may consider your request to access the land and where necessary grant a relevant licence. If we don't own the land we would recommend you contact the Land Registry to find out who does own it.

Do I need a licence to run a catering van/ice cream van on your land?

You would need the consent of the council as landowner, a licence to trade on the land and the relevant food handling certificates to run a catering or ice cream van on council land.

The council has identified sites it considers suitable for trading on and these sites are advertised in the local press to let by tender every three years.

Can I site a compound or scaffolding on your land?
