I have found a stray dog

In the current situation and adhering to government guidance, we all need to try to avoid unnecessary contact and travel. This advice will remain current until further notice.

If you find a stray dog, we advise that the first thing to do would be to advertise this on Facebook and other social media sites where possible and also use those specific on line sites dedicated to lost and found pets. We would ask you to keep hold of the dog for as long as you can, if at all possible, until the owner comes forward.

If you do not get a response to social media within 24 - 36hrs, the next step would be for you to take the dog direct to the Margaret Green Animal Rescue centre (Wingletang) at Brentor as we are currently unable to offer a collection service.

The address is: Margaret Green Animal Rescue, Brentor Road, Tavistock PL19 0LF

Do I still need to report it to you?

Yes, please report stray dogs to us, using our report it tool.  Please provide as much of the following information as possible:

  • Breed/sex of dog;
  • Colour & distinguishing features;
  • Is it friendly and approachable?
  • Where and when was it found?
  • Does the dog have any identification?
  • Any other relevant information?

Please Note: Veterinary Practices have been advised to close for everything except emergencies and therefore it is no longer possible to take a stray to a local vet to have it scanned for a microchip.
