Disruptions due to driver shortages

We are experiencing disruption to some waste and recycling collection services due to driver shortages.

Booking an Event

Events on Council Land

Our event booking system is now open again. Any events booked must comply with Coronavirus restrictions in place at the time of the event. Please see the Government roadmap for lifting lockdown for more information about what you and cannot do at each stage.

  • No non-essential commercial events can take place before 12 April.
  • From 17 May, a maximum of 30 people can gather.
  • From 19 July, all restrictions on outdoor gatherings should be lifted.

These dates are subject to changes, and the Council has the right to withdraw the event without notice if Government restrictions mean that the event cannot take place.

Thanks for your understanding and patience during this time.

Most car park, parks and gardens are available to be used for community events. If you want to book Council land for an event, find out how below.

How do I book an event?

It is important that if you are planning an event on Council land that you consider carefully how you will put on a safe and enjoyable event. To assist in this, we have produced a guide which you can download from the right side of this page.

What information do you need?

You will need to submit the following:

  • Completed Event Booking Form
  • Proof of Public Liability insurance for a minimum of £5,000,000
  • A Risk Assessment.
  • A Waste Management Plan.
  • A Site Plan.

We require a minimum of 28 days' notice in advance of any proposed event. If an application is submitted with less than 28 days' notice, it will automatically be refused.

How much will it cost?

West Devon Borough Council applies an administration fee of £55 plus VAT per event.

Payment is required when completing the application. Please select "EVENT BOOKING" from the dropdown list of payment options on the "Need to pay for something" page.
