If you are accepting help from Community Responders whilst self-isolating during the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, here are some tips to help protect both parties:


share financial details such as credit/debit card numbers, PINs and passwords

ask for receipts for shopping and make notes of any money given to volunteers
overshare personal information; only provide details on a need-to-know basis and with a trusted sourceask to see Identification if anyone you don't know calls at your home saying they are there to help you
feel under pressure to provide any personal informationring the Police on 101 to report suspicious behaviour if you have doubts about those who are approaching you, do not engage with them until you know it is safe to do so



  • Genuine volunteers have been instructed not to enter your home
  • If you feel threatened, and/or are in immediate danger, call the police on 999.
