Allotments

West Devon Borough Council does not own or manage any statutory allotments; however some town and parish councils in our area do.

Parish and Town Councils and a number of other groups own or manage allotments in various towns and villages, but West Devon Borough Council has no access to waiting list data.

The following is a list of Parishes with allotments and links to their websites.

Town or village Location

Bere Ferrers

South of Bere Alston, to west of Fore Street

Chagford

On southern side of Chagford, to east of New Street

Hatherleigh

North of Hatherleigh, adjacent to A386

Horrabridge

On eastern side of Horrabridge, to south of Knowle Terrace

North Tawton

North of Fore Street, behind dwellings

Okehampton

Castle Road and Fatherford Road

Tavistock

Butchers Park Hill, and to west of Tavistock Canal (opposite College)

West Devon does allow some pieces of land to be used as garden land under licence by local residents on application. It must be stressed that these are not statutory allotments and any agreement for their use is at the Council's discretion.

The only land we operate a waiting list for is an area of 4 plots at Crelake in Tavistock.

In all other cases, a request to use Council land for this purpose is considered on a case-by-case basis when an approach is made by a member of the public.
