Residents and visitors can enjoy the festive atmosphere in Tavistock, Okehampton, Hatherleigh and Chagford and park for free in Borough Council car parks.
The parking events are to be held on the following days and times, at:
- Hatherleigh after 3 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays in December
- Chagford after 3 p.m. on Thursday and Fridays in December
- Tavistock - after 3 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays (not Guildhall)
- Okehampton (Mill Road car park only) - after 3 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays in December
West Devon Borough Council’s Lead Member for Communities, Cllr Adam Bridgewater, said: “West Devon is special at any time of year, but it brings its own magic at Christmastime. This year, as many before it, it’s tough for businesses to survive with rising energy costs and tightening purse strings for shoppers. Times haven’t got any easier since the pandemic.
“Residents are struggling too, to buy gifts, pay bills and keep children’s Christmas wishes alive against the realities of the cost of living crisis that we’re all facing and we want to help where we can. A few hours free isn’t going to make a huge difference, but if it helps ease the pressure at all then that’s all we can hope for.”
