Fireworks can be great fun, not just on 5 November (Bonfire Night), but also on Diwali, New Year’s Eve and Chinese New Year.
So this year, if you are having a firework party, please follow the Fireworks Code to reduce the risk of accidents.
What does the law say?
- It says you must not set off or throw fireworks (including sparklers) in the street or other public places.
- It is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to buy fireworks.
- You must not set off fireworks between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Exceptions are:
You must not set off fireworks after midnight on:
- Bonfire Night
You must not set off fireworks after 1 a.m. on:
- New Year’s Eve
- Diwali
- Chinese New Year
